The PoE Extender is a plug-and-play device for expanding Power over long distances over Ethernet (PoE) networks. It complies with IEEE802.3af/at standards for supplying power remotely up to 100 meters. This allows adding PoE end devices, such as wireless access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, etc., into outdoor areas far from an existing PoE switch or injector source.
The PoE extender auto-detects 802.3af or 802.3at PoE source input and seamlessly passes power and data through to the end device using a 10/100/1000 Gigabit uplink. Using up to 3 extenders in a series can stretch coverage to 300 meters from the original PoE power source. The extender auto-adjusts power budgets based on connected PoE device loads using standard network cabling like outdoor-rated Cat5e or Cat6 up to 328ft per segment.
With plug-and-play operation, the PoE extender facilitates expanding coverage of wireless access points for gardens, pole barns, or perimeter surveillance cameras by breaking ground distance barriers. Network installers in rural areas can leverage the existing PoE switch/router inside a home to provide PoE access deep into the surrounding property outdoors. It is an invaluable tool for powering and networking remote PoE gear cost-effectively over a single cable.
